La Grua Center for the Arts: Military Matters

March 23, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Vice Admiral Sandra Stosz (Ret.), is the former superintendent of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London and the first woman to lead a U.S. Armed Services academy. She will discuss her new book Breaking Ice and Breaking Glass: Leading in Uncharted Waters and speak about the aspects of leadership that can apply to many walks of life. She will also discuss the challenges that come with being a “first” or “one of a few” when confronting barriers that have historically denied women the same opportunities as men in the military, particularly when in a command position and seeking promotion. Books will be available for signing and sale courtesy of Bank Square Books.

Open to the public. Suggested donation $5. All proceeds will go to the Stonington Veteran Monument Project.

With special thanks to our Military Matters Series sponsor:
